We come to the last of The Wounded Jukebox’s Best Songs of 2010 lists. I made an effort to avoid repeating artists on my list in order to include more of the songs that I loved this year. The resulting list is a pretty good representation of the tunes I discovered in 2010. I prefer to let the music speak for itself in most cases. I tried to absorb all of Miniature Tigers 2010 LP Fortress in just a couple of days leading up to their Dec. 3 show opening for Freelance Whales in Columbus. But as it turns out, the band’s tour van broke down and they weren’t able to make it to the show. This song — with its constant energy and simple guitar harmonies — would’ve been a fun one to hear live, I suspect. Some day!

This song jingles and jangles its way through 4 minutes and 24 seconds. Simple, straightforward indie-rock tune that’s a real gem.

45. The Bird Day – “Gonna Beg You” (Sept. 7)
44. The Drums – “Let’s Go Surfing” (June 10)
43. Delorean – “Real Love” (July 26)
In the same vein as their electro-pop brethren Passion Pit, Delorean were one of the more interesting acts TWJ saw at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago this past summer. This song is funky and addicting, with its synth and basslines and impressive progression. It has to be at over six minutes long.

With its fast-paced rhythm and shimmering guitars, it’s easy to miss that this song almost sounds like an ode to hoarders. Regardless, it’s an awful lot of fun.
