Grand Hallway: Winter Creatures

4 Comments 05 August 2011

Everyone keeps saying that Grand Hallway is chamber pop. I’m not really sure what that means to tell you the truth, but I like it. This Seattle based band just came out with a new full length in June, titled Winter Creatures. The album has amazing clarity and layers of sound. Self proclaimed influences include Nick Drake, Arthur Russell, Bjork, Fleet Foxes, Moondoggies, and even Señor Miles Davis. Winter Creatures goes from big a room-filling sound to simple acoustic folk songs. This band is all over the Seattle festival scene this year including, Bumbershoot, City Arts and Reverb Fest. Can’t wait to catch them live.

Very cool sound. I think I did chamber pop, too. whatever that is.

  2. Nice post, several good songs. I caught Grand Hallway at the Capitol Hill Block Party, got a video from it on my blog: http://virtualsoundnw.blogspot.com/2011/08/capitol-hill-block-party-sunday.html
