The Dead Trees are nomads of sorts. The band formed in Boston, then moved to Portland, and now calls Los Angeles home, where the band found the inspiration that’s to some impressive indie rock. They’ve toured with MGMT, Little Joy, The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr., and they’ve financed their new album WHATWAVE completely by fan donations via Kickstarter. It’s easy to hear why fans were willing to chip in their own cash to hear more from this LA foursome.
The record is available everywhere now, and “My Time Has Just Begun” — with its jangly, layered guitars and message about just kicking back and making the most of whatever life throws you — is a good deal of fun.
