The fact that Ahmed Gallab, aka Sinkane member of the band Yeasayer, is from Columbus, Ohio warms my heart. Gallab was booking shows as a teenager, attended Ohio State and played in a couple of bands that gained a good deal of notoriety on the local scene. He’s also been a part of the live shows of bands like Of Montreal and Caribou, and when the first single from his forthcoming album Mars dropped into our inbox, I was pretty tickled. The song possesses a delicious groove and has the power to chill you out while simultaneously making you tap your toes. According to Stereogum, members of Yeasayer and Twin Shadow contributed to Mars, and I for one can’t wait to hear more tracks. Download “Jeeper Creeper” (right-click) below.
