Manu Chao is a fantastic musician, but what sets him apart from many other musicians is that he uses his music to promote change. Artists like Manu Chao come to the forefront in times like these when there is an aura of change in the air. Whether you support the occupy movement or not, there is a new wave of protest music. Manu Chao plays all over the world, and often times the money from his shows goes directly to a human rights issues or specific marginalized groups. In this new video he points to the human rights abuses taking place in the U.S. with the demonization of many of our neighbors from Latin America. He performs the video in front of one of the “tent camps” in Maricopa County, Arizona, where thousands immigrants are being held. Manu Chao also approached and produced the amazing Amadou & Mariam 2004 release.
