Irish trio The Minutes have got something special brewing. The group honed its sound playing in any Dublin bar or club that would have them, racking up more and more gigs and plenty of notoriety thanks to their hard work. “Black Keys” is a gritty, thumping number that’s fit for headbangers and toe-tappers alike, and it’s easy to hear how the band’s live shows would be a damn good time. These lads are set to rock the socks of the enormous flock of music-lovers descending on Austin, Texas for SXSW this Spring. I can’t imagine they’d do anything but wow most of those that check out their performances. I’m not sure why — perhaps it’s the crunchy riffs and higher-register vocals — but I get a Queens of the Stone Age vibe from The Minutes, in a totally awesome way. Stream “Black Keys” below, and watch the super-cool, black-and-white vid centered around a hard-working boxer. Their self-titled EP will be out February 14 in the US on Model Citizen Records.
