I wouldn’t dare say an unkind word about the music of United Kingdom’s Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, because Goldfrapp‘s immense international cult following would hunt me down like a dog. They guard their lady and lad very closely. Luckily, I would never say such a thing because I count myself among them, sharing their fascination with the curls and ambiance of the electronic duo. Goldfrapp and Gregory have been behind this decade’s best music videos and most sublime tunes, often being “that song you love” in that one commercial.
On February 6th, 2012, Goldfrapp releases it’s first compilation record, putting all of their greatest songs since the year 2000 (sans “Caravan Girl”) on a singular item you can put in your hand and carry to grandma’s house. As a way of saying the collection isn’t a sign of an end, the list includes two brand new additions to the catalogue, “Melancholy Sky” and “Yellow Halo”. The latter can be streamed and seen below, in all its atmospheric glory. It’s clearly referring to Allison’s hair.
If you’re a youngin’ or haven’t gotten to Goldfrapp yet, here’s the dinner bell. Start with “Happiness”, and turn the volume up.
