It’s the kind of story that’s just goofy enough to be true. Brendan Benson — the co-leader of The Raconteurs and an awfully prolific solo indie artist himself — heard the gentlemen painting his house listening to some music he’d never heard before while they worked. Turns out, those guys were enjoying the demo of one Young Hines, a Georgia native who is now signed to Benson’s Readymade label. Hines’ debut album Give Me My Change will be the first release on Benson’s label, and he’ll tour with Benson this Spring after stopping by SXSW in Austin.
Hines has been writing and singing songs since the age of 12, and recently relocated to Nashville, where he recorded Give Me My Change in Benson’s studio. The vibe is warm and earnest, and the songwriting is top notch on “Rainy Day,” the somber lead single for Hines’ forthcoming LP, which drops on April 10. Check it out below.
