The origin of a band’s name sometimes remains a head-scratching mystery. Boston band Air Traffic Controller is not an example of this phenomenon. Lead singer and songwriter Dave Munro spent time as an actual air traffic controller in the U.S. Navy, and it would seem that the same precision has been applied to his crafting of hooks. “You Know Me” is all guitar jangle and stomping percussion throughout, and the shared male/female vocals between Munro and bandmate Casey Sullivan are the tasty icing on the cake. It is undeniably catchy indie pop, the kind with singalong moments that could take up permanent residence in your brain if you’re not careful.
The band’s album NORDO is out now on Sugarpop (pretty fitting, huh?) Records, and the other song we’ll offer here is another stomping, instantly likeable tune called “Hurry Hurry.” There’s plenty more material available on the band’s Soundcloud page, as well. Enjoy “You Know Me” and “Hurry Hurry” below.
