Matt’s Bestest Songs of the Week: 9/08/15
Among bountiful hopes that my fellow Yanks had a great Labor Day weekend, are further hopes that bringing you Bestest Songs a little early will help you back into the work week. No one should be forced to make merry, then make moil in the salt mines without at least a four day transition. This week’s songs all have a bit of pep and step to them. Let’s go!
Dolphin Tears – “NEED Ü”
Because: The only way i’ll listen to Justin Bieber is if you mix it with Skrillex, Diplo, Lady Gaga, and then make them all better by cutting them all up into bitty better bits and melting them into rainbow riffs.
Air Waves – “Fantasy”
Because: Something about Nicole Schneit is immensely likable, and her song here is a hot mug of tea.
Colleagues – “Align”
Because: Sweden has the natures.
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats – “Howling At Nothing”
Because: Of all the shows in the land, the one done by these guys would have the most eye contact with the crowd.
Dornik – “Drive”
Because: I enjoy Michael Jackson with a double dash of Prince.
Fake Palms – “YTMATLDPH”
Because: It’s garage rock song with a rhythm guitar holding its hand up out of the song like some star pupil.

Troye Sivan – “WILD”
Because: Every now and then a pop chorus, as simple and stupid as they can be, offers you a fresh brew.
Amateur Best – “They Know”
Because: This song has so many parts of itself detached and hidden in alcove shadows and puzzle boxes.

Frøkedal – “I See You”
Because: It reminds me a bit of Fleet Foxes. Remember them?
Kathryn Calder – “New Millennium”
Because: Calder should be known for more than her vocals with The New Pornographers.
Khruangbin – “White Gloves”
Because: Can’t you just slow dance all night to this breeze of a wisp of a waft of a scent of a curl of a tuft of a song?
That’s all for now! Be well and stay tuned!
